Trini Ross, a native of western New York State and a graduate of New York State University at Fredonia, has been confirmed as the United States attorney for the Western District of New York.

Ross will be the first African-American woman to serve as the United States attorney for the Western District of New York.
Ross has been Director of Investigations, Legal Division, in the Office of the Inspector General of the National Science Foundation since 2018. She is also an Assistant Professor at the State University of New York at the Buffalo School of Law since 2006. From 1995 As of 2018, Ross was Assistant United States Attorney for the Western District of New York, where she served as Senior Legal Counsel and Head of the Anti-Fraud and Corruption Section from 2012 to 2017.
She also served as Deputy Legal Counsel in the Department of Justice’s Professional Liability Office from 2007 to 2009.
