It is still unclear how many people died in a plane crash near downtown Victoria on Saturday afternoon.
The private plane took off from Alexandria Airport and was on its way to the Flying Cloud Eden Prairie Airport when it crashed at around 5:44 p.m. off Rose Street, near the city center of the western suburbs.
Shocking video of the tragedy shows the plane crashes to the ground and crashes into a house before catching fire. Warning: graphic video.
The plane crashed into the house at 7956 Rose Street, according to the Carver County Sheriff’s Office. The family were at home at the time of the accident, but no one in the house or nearby outside was injured.
“There are confirmed deaths,” the sheriff’s office said on Saturday night. It is not known how many people were on the plane, which has been identified by the FAA as a single-engine Mooney M20 that can seat up to four people.
Highway 5 was closed between the north and south directions of County Road 11, but has since reopened to traffic.
“This is a tragic event that has taken place close to the heart of Victoria and our community will keep the victims of this incident and their loved ones in our thoughts and prayers during this time,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
The NTSB is investigating the accident.
