Suspect dead after chase ended in gunfire at Monroe St.

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – One person has died after a police chase ended in gunfire early Monday morning in Toledo.

The chase began around 1 a.m. with response from Toledo Police, Monroe Police, Michigan State Police, and Ohio Highway Patrol.

During the chase, the suspect struck a telephone pole on Scottwood Avenue near Virginia Street. The suspect then fled on foot to Monroe Street, near Bancroft Street.

According to the Toledo police, the suspect was shot dead by the police. No policeman was injured.

There was a shootout involving an officer in the Monroe and Bancroft area. A suspect has died. No other resident or police were injured. Additional information will be forthcoming. #toledopolice pic.twitter.com/3dtgkpVrdz
