But in 2021, Linköping is the first to have the opportunity. The Riksidrottsförbundet and the Swedish television have decided that Halmstad would host the city and would organize SM week in the summer of 2020. Linköping will have the summer week 2021 and Umeå 2022.

The selection process of the host city, which RF and SVT do in consultation, began last year. In the spring, RF and SVT processed applications and visited all cities to review the sites and other conditions of SM Week.
