At the beginning of the week, an escalator at Stockholm Station began to fork in the wrong direction – and since then the train station and Odenplan station have been closed.
The company Otis, who delivered the escalators, apologized
"We are working to resolve the situation as soon as possible," writes the company.
On Monday, one of the escalators at Stockholm Station began to shine in the wrong direction. At a crisis meeting, SL decided to close the train station and the Odenplan station, because the escalators of a crash control were deemed dangerous for the passengers.
Since Friday, July 13, the stations are closed for security reasons. Without functional stopovers, the resorts can not be used for reasons of escape, says SL on their website.
– It was a very difficult decision to make for us. Closing stations is the last thing we want to do. But the safety of the traveler comes first, says Mattias Sjöström-Varg at SL press release

Called in "Global Equipment Experts"
Aftonbladet asked Otis, the company that delivered the escalators. On Saturday evening, the company issued a press release in which Otis said to cooperate "fully" with the investigation opened after the accident.
"Our local team is up and Otis has also called on global experts to support the investigation," writes the company – and also apologizes.
"We deplore the inconvenience this causes, but safety is always our first priority and we are working to resolve the situation as soon as possible."
The closure will be illegal
The closure of the city of Stockholm and Odenplan will be illegal, as the tracks at Stockholm Central and Stockholm South stations will be renovated until August 20th. It causes remote trains south of Stockholm and regional trains to Flemingsberg
During the renovations, travelers took a commuter train to Stockholm or Odenplan, but are now forced to take the subway from south Stockholm. We are strengthening with additional trains on the red metro line, says Mattias Sjöström-Varg.
