Congo-Kinshasa has had another Ebola break. In the photo, health professionals who are preparing to disinfect people and buildings in case of previous outbreak of infection in the country.
Congo-Kinshasa suffered a new Ebola crisis just one week after another explosion, which reportedly claimed the lives of 33 people in the north-west of the country.
This time, it is in the east of the country that the infection has been detected. According to the Ministry of Health, four people were tested positive in an inaccessible area near the city of Beni, near the border with Uganda. Twenty people in the region have died of haemorrhagic fever, but it is unclear whether it is an Ebola virus.
There should be no connection with the previous epidemic, which began in April and has occurred more than 250 km away. A group of twelve experts from the Ministry of Health will visit the region on Thursday to set up a mobile laboratory. WHO has begun moving personnel and equipment into the suspected infected area, said WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on Twitter.
