Food soda is linked to depression | Aftonbladet

Stockholm. People who drink low-calorie drinks often suffer from depression more than others. For coffee drinkers, on the other hand, it is the opposite.

After studying the drinking habits of 250,000 people, American researchers have found a connection between what we drink and what we feel psychologically. It was found that depression was more common among those who drank baking soda or other artificially sweetened beverages.

This does not mean that the drinks themselves cause depression, say the researchers, who will present their results soon at the annual conference of neurologists in the United States. Instead, drinks can be a marker for people suffering from obesity or diabetes, that is, diseases that can cause depression.
