During the week, the parties will participate in discussions on the formulation of the cooperation decided Tuesday night.

On the agenda of the Liberal meeting, a vote was held to take a stand in favor of the offer of cooperation of the Social Democrats to govern in Malmö.

Prior to last fall's election, the Liberals and other Alliance parties had developed a joint election manifesto. Among other things, there would be a change of power in Malmö.

With the support of the Swedish Democrats, a change of power was possible. But the Liberals were one of the parties that ended the candidacy of Torbjörn Tegnhammar (M) as chairman of the Malmö City Council. The reason was the support of the Swedish Democrats.

The position was awarded to Katrin Stjernfeldt Jammeh (S). During this vote, the Liberals dropped their votes because we had never met before.

"We now have a real chance, the first in 24 years, to steer Malmö in a more liberal direction," said Roko Kursar.

"We are two different parties but with a common goal, obviously it requires compromise because we have different heart problems, and sometimes we will find ourselves in situations where we have to agree not to give up our own policies.

Included in the center rule

The Liberals announced Tuesday night that they would be part of a party at half government with the Social Democrats.

But the game of political power of the liberals has already begun at the end of September, when the talks began with the Social Democrats.

– We have specified what points of our municipal political action program we can achieve. This is based on the negotiations that we are in late September and early October. It's about a large majority of our points, says Roko Kursa.

The vote took place on Tuesday evening and a large majority (39-19) voted for cooperation with the Social Democrats.

The city of Malmö will therefore be governed by the Social Democrats and Liberals, supported by the Party of the Environment.
