Before Tuesday's meeting between Roma and Real Madrid, both teams were ready to qualify for the eighth final. After Viktoria Plzen earlier in the evening, CSKA Moscow broke the score with a 2-1 lead on the finish line.

At Sunday's meeting with Udinese, Robin Olsen was out for Roma because of an injury, but tonight the Swedish goalkeeper was in the game. Although Real Madrid had a lot of ball initially, it took 20 minutes before Olsen was tested for the first time. Luka Modric tested the finish just outside the penalty area and Olsen was allowed to stretch. The Swedes managed to save the ball before the Rome player could hit him in the corner.

Real played most of the match in the first half, but Roma was not harmless in his relegation match. Among other things, Aleksandar Kolarov was about to finish at a distance from goal, but the difficult Serbian arrival had just beaten the right post of Thibaut Courtois.

The closest goal in the first half was Cengiz Ünder. The Rome player was opened in overtime, but got too much into the ball. A senseless 21-year-old girl comforted by team-mate Alessandro Florenzi.

After the first half, the score was 0-0.

In the second, Real Madrid had a dream start, much thanks to the Roma defense. After a slight blowout from Olsen, midfielder Federico Fazio tilted his head back to the Swedish goalkeeper. But the ball was not found at Olsen but at a standalone Gareth Bale. The Walesman did not make any mistakes and put the ball in the net at 1-0 for the guests.

A few minutes later, Bale got a new free course, but Olsen then managed to parry and keep Roma in the game.

Real continued to pressure and after an hour of play, Lucas Vazquez could hit 2-0 for the Spaniards behind a helpless Olsen.

After Real's 2-0 goal, however, the match and, despite the fact that Rome created a lot of chances, did not result in a hole in Real Defense.

– The matches become more and more difficult. Today, it was the same and both teams were able to take the lead, but we scored goals and gained confidence. The most important was to regain a good feeling after the sad performance of this weekend, said scorer 2-0, Lucas Vazquez, on the website of Ufa.

The victory for Real also means securing the victory of the group with a game on the left. It also means that the Spaniards will face a team in the eighth final, while the Roma will face a group.
