Women with breast cancer who train with cytostatics feel better, according to a study conducted at Karolinska University Hospital.

The 240 women participating in the study attended personal training programs and were trained at the hospital twice a week for 16 weeks of treatment.

After one year, women feel stronger, according to the study. It shows, among other things, an activity gauge, blood samples and questionnaires to which the participants responded.

It appears that they have a better quality of life, fewer symptoms of treatment, better weight control and increased muscle strength.

"Many think it's fun to go to a regular gym – but here in Karolinska you can hang the wig and exercise, everyone is the same," says Yvonne Wengström , professor and nurse in oncology in a press release.
