The Japanese automaker Nissan and the company's auditor were already aware, five years ago, of big gains paid to the sacked president, Carlos Ghosn, Reuters reported, referring to a source.
The company's auditors at Ernst & Young, Shin Nihon, asked about the luxury homes purchased for the Ghosn bill and other payments already in 2013, according to the source. Nissan should have responded that the financial transactions and reports were correct.
Nissan had already claimed that Ghosn, in a mascot, with his employee, Greg Kelly, had shed light on the company regarding disputed payments.
The audit office and Nissan representatives do not want to comment on this information.
Carlos Ghosn, previously known for building the alliance between French Renault and Japanese Nissan and Mitsubishi, was arrested on November 19. After an internal investigation on Nissan, Japanese prosecutors accused it of having hidden half of the payments that had been paid to it.
Ghosn, who according to Japanese media denies the allegations, is still in prison.
