According to the New York Times, nearly 500,000 records burned in the violent fire. Original recordings including Chuck Berry, Howlin's Wolf, Aretha Franklin, Elton John, Nirvana, Eminem and Snoop Dogg were reportedly destroyed.
At first, Universal denied that the recordings would be of particular importance to the music industry and claimed that the magazine did not understand the extent of the damage. But now, the company's president, Sir Lucian Grainge, says they owe an answer to the artists, reports The Guardian.
