A 64-year-old woman in Australia died after being infected with hepatitis A while she ate pomegranate, reports the BBC.

Frozen pomegranate kernels came from Egypt and were imported earlier in the spring by an Australian food company. About 2,000 packages were sold and 24 cases of hepatitis were linked to the contaminated part. Most of the other victims have already recovered, according to health authorities, who now urge Australians to review their freezer compartments and to launch packets of infected fruit.

Hepatitis A attacks the liver and is usually spread through food, stool or sexual contact. Last year, the same company was forced to withdraw its charge of frozen berry mixture after a new outbreak of hepatitis.
