DEBATT | The formation of a government. My party, the Liberals, is facing a fate of destiny. In a situation where we have been afraid of the parliamentary bar for a long time, we hesitate to be part of an S-led government or to oppose it. I myself have been clear with my opinion on this issue. In a position where seven out of ten left-wing voters, according to SVT's Valu, define themselves as the right and moderators are the most common second-hand option for our voters, it would be devastating to win 5.5% at behind with Stefan Löfven. I think it will be very difficult for us to overcome the parliamentary barrier of 2022.
But our party, despite its small size, is a big church. We have different perspectives on government issues. Okay So the question was debated in the parliamentary group and the party council. And now I look forward to an open debate on the important choices of our party on the party council that should be held in December.
Generous offer of M
In order for the result of this debate and a subsequent vote to be respected and to create a common force within our party, it is important that transparency reflect our choices. Our members have the right to have a complete overview of the available options.
It is therefore regrettable that party leaders over the weekend did not explain to the parliamentary group or the party council the offer made to our party by the moderators. A lengthy document explains how the Liberals, our thinness despite everything, would have a profound influence on a moderate government. At the same time, we would guarantee complete freedom of action in the House without blaming ourselves.
SD would be kept out of the way
A detailed statement of opinion is included in the document. The liberals' heart problems, such as a more rigorous management of finances and financial efforts, an increase in defense spending, state responsibility and the improvement of the LSS, measures to abolish the harmful tax on social welfare, special measures to protect minorities victims of hate crimes and intensification of work for the rights of HBT some of the promises. Non-government alliance parties are free to negotiate with them, but may also choose not to do so. It is also clear that the government will not negotiate with the Swedish Democrats.
In short, this is a very generous offer, which would give the Liberals clear successes in our promises and give our country a more liberal direction.
This is important in light of what is sometimes called a crisis for the liberal system of society, that many have lost confidence in the ability of liberal ideals to improve society.
L as a watchdog against extremism
When liberal progress is threatened, we can not tolerate symbolic and solemn distances between right-wing and left-wing populations. I firmly believe that liberalism can only gain the trust of people by showing that it makes a concrete difference in their daily lives.
The moderators offer the liberals the chance to guarantee that Sweden is characterized by a liberal reform policy, while being able to serve as an opposition party to the Riksdag as a guard against populism and extremism.
Why this offer of moderates has not been clearly presented to our party, in our important internal negotiations, seems to me extremely strange. I hope that will change now and that we will have an open and constructive discussion on the party's council in December.
