In the report, as did the union association, more than 2,000 merchants were questioned about Christmas music being a problem in the workplace.
The results show that there are mixed perceptions. Christmas music can be enjoyed just like music played at other times of the year, but just over a third feels that Christmas music is more stressful for the work environment than normal music.
The lack of variety and quality of music is the main reason why many people consider party music a problem. Many comments in the report, when the issue of Christmas music appears, are negative.
"It may seem excessive but I think it's a torture," says one person.
"I really think it should be illegal to force store staff to listen to Christmas music during the Christmas business," says another.
For staff not to perceive music as a problem in the workplace, it is essential that they influence the type of music played. Those who influence are much more positive about music.
