Early Tuesday morning, our colleagues at E-handel.se could say that the losses of the fashion retailer Caliroot shone. In 2018, the loss was 40 million SEK, which can be compared to a loss of 9 million the previous year.

"The numbers speak their clear language. It was a difficult year. There were a few too many sports shoes that we could sell later. In the autumn of 2018, we managed to rebalance and find better levels, "said Andreas Koschnike, CEO of Caliroot, the weak result obtained for E-handel.se.

However, it was much more secretive about financing the company. Andreas Koschnike said that Caliroot had published a new issue and received a "decent orientation". But whoever came in with the money and how much capital was injected into the company, Andreas Koschnike did not mean.

This has obviously aroused our curiosity at Breakit and, after some research in the documents recently published by the Registry of Swedish Companies, we can reveal the following:

One of the most influential people in the Swedish business world, Cristina Stenbeck, is becoming one of the main owners of Caliroots. Through her private Camshaft company, Cristina Stenbeck has invested 18 million SEK and now controls 7.9% of Caliroots shares.

In the new issue, decided at an extraordinary general meeting at the end of May, Caliroots received a total of SEK 28 million. In addition to Cristina Stenbeck, the former main owner, the venture capital firm Verdane, entered with 9.9 million SEK and Andreas Koschnike with 0.1 million SEK in the issuance of new shares.

Although Caliroots lost SEK 40 million, the company is valued at SEK 200 million (before the money) in the transaction. This corresponds to about half of last year 's sales, which amounted to 376 million SEK. This year, according to Andreas Koschnike, the company will do the trick. If he succeeds with this ambition, the evaluation always seems reasonable.
