Västanå has staged many shows based on the stories of Selma Lagerlöf, but this year Eddan plays.
This is not the first time that Västanå is turning into this kind of story. Previously, the Finnish national post Kalevala had been set up. But now, there are gods and women who tell the story of adventure on stage.
Manus is written by playwright Jon Fosse and it starts from the first song of Eddan. Other stories about, for example, the hammer of Thor Mjölner, stolen by the giant Trym, are buried in the first song about Völvan's divination.
"The wolf tells how the world was created, what the world looks like and how the world will unfold in Ragnarök," said director Leif Stinnerbom.
Despite the fact that these stories are very old, Eddan and the story of Völvan's divination are of interest to us today, says Leif Stinnerbom.
– Suddenly, all newspaper headlines refer to the climate crisis. And we should understand that we may be living the last days in this matter. May Ragnarök come earlier than planned because of our own nature management.
