United States. Soon, the strict rules for US flights will come into effect. For example, they mean that airport controls will be expanded.
At the end of June, John Kelly, then Minister of Homeland Security, introduced the new security requirements for flights from abroad to the United States.
Airlines have been given 21 days to improve explosives detection controls and 120 days to adapt to other safety rules, including increased passenger screening.
Thursday, 120 days have passed and airlines such as Reuters have said they are ready.
Lufthansa says their passengers could be subjected to a brief interview at check-in or on the street.
The Hong Kong-based airline, Cathay Pacific, says that it eliminates the option of checking in and leaving luggage for direct flights to the United States. The airline also indicates that passengers will benefit from brief security interviews and urges them to travel to the airport three hours prior to departure from the aircraft.
