Gasklocka to Henriksdal leans on one side

It was during renovations this weekend that something went wrong and the gas bell of the Henriksdal treatment plant began to become considerably depleted, which P4 Stockholm was the first to report.

During the renovation, the concrete was examined and the steel of the old gas bell would be renovated.

"We do not know where things went wrong right now, designers and steelists are studying to find out what happened," said Torbjörn Reimer, Stockholm Water and Waste project manager.

He tells that the gas valve leans towards the mountain and not towards Värmdöleden, nearby. The rescue service was in place Sunday night to ensure that the gas bell would not break completely.

"We found that there was no risk that it raged and surrendered to the owner," said Lars Lindberg, chief executive of the Storstockholm rescue center.

The fuel cap was empty and did not contain any gasoline during the renovations. According to the plan, it would be put back into service next year, which could now be delayed.

"We have not found any way to turn it around," says Torbjörn Reimer.

Who will be responsible for the additional costs necessary to correct the error is not yet clear.

"We will first examine what happened and the contractor contacted the insurance company," Torbjörn Reimer said.
