Storks are released in groups because they favor their instinct for movement.

The Stork Project is a collaboration between the Skåne Conservation Nature Association and the Skåne Bird Sanctuary . The project began in 1989, when storks disappeared from Skåne and across the country for 35 years. The goal is to recapture a viable Swedish stork tribe.
In addition to its own barn for breeding in Skåne, the project has a dozen breeding pairs managed by the Nordens Ark Zoo in Bohuslän. All children hatched in the hall are ringed and released each year.
More than 40 volunteers are involved in the project.
