The County Council temporarily stops hunting and training with a dog. The heat causes suffering for dogs and wildlife.

Between August 1 and September 30, it is forbidden to hunt and train dogs on wild boar and elk in Kalmar County. The decision is made in view of the current heat wave that causes the lack of food and water. Hunting with dogs in such conditions poses great stress and unnecessary suffering for both dogs and wildlife, the County Administrative Board writes in a press release.

The prefecture consulted representatives of the delegation of the Wildlife Administration before the decision. It can be interrupted or prolonged, depending on weather conditions. The search for damaged game is excluded from the ban.
