Improved atmosphere in the German economy – Economy

economy The mood of investors in the German economy has improved, according to a business climate index from the ZEW research institute.

The ZEW index rose from less than 3.6 in March to 3.1 in April. The average forecast for the measure was an increase to 0.8.

The ZEW index is calculated by determining the proportion of investors positive vis-à-vis those who are negative about the prospects of the German economy in six months.

This rise is largely due to the fact that investors surveyed in the ZEW survey do not think that the global economy will develop as weakly as they once thought. Another factor that could have had a positive effect on the atmosphere is the postponement of the EU's withdrawal to the UK, according to ZEW Institute chairman Achim Wambach.

However, a sub-index showing the perception that investors have of the current economic situation fell to 5.5 in April from 11.0 in March. This was a slightly larger drop than expected.
