Marie Dahlin goes on – accused for racism and sexism

Marie Dahlin, chair of the Vänersborg City Council, has described it as a major workplace problem for many years, but the "Dahlin store" has been quick.

This was announced last week since TTEla sent a letter to municipal staff and the bargaining committee (PFU). The moderate Gunnar Lidell had written it.

Known for many incidents

Lidell is the first vice-chairman of the city council and therefore the main opposition politician. He said that the problems with the notified person had lasted for several years and worsened.

"In the end, I felt that I had to try something," he told TTEla.

Lidell told him that between ten and twenty occasions when the person (Dahlin was not yet named) had made racist and sexist statements. He also spoke of "the hand on the opposite sex".

Monday, Dahlin was named by the newspaper.

At one meeting, Dahlin reportedly "joked" about the rape victims. Lidell says that she should have said "That with those who say they are afraid of assault and rape, may not be upset, that is, wishful thinking because they have not received anything in a long time?"

Something that has been confirmed by other politicians. And it was believed that Dahlin's statements and behavior were a work problem.

"Where are my negroes"

Gunnar Lidell also spoke about a story that happened a few years ago.

– A few years ago, Marie Dahlin was a supervisor of a political trainee, a dark South African woman. I've personally heard Marie screaming in our hallway waiting for the trainee, "where are my negatives," Lidell said.

Marie Dahlin denied the accusations, but on Tuesday the local council of Social Democrats decided to call a special meeting.

This led to the departure of Dahlin City Council, which was made public Wednesday.

Dan Nyberg, Member, told TTEla:

"What we have been talking about is a long – standing plump and sexist joke – there are so many accusations that no one has found it all.

Been a politician for 30 years

Dahlin himself did not leave an oral comment, but wrote in a text to SVT News West:

"More than 30 years of politics are over – it's very boring, but I'm doing it for the sake of the party."

Bo Carlsson, former vice-president of the KS party center, assumes the role of chairman of the city council until further notice.

In the municipality of Vänersborg, the Social Democrats are in the minority with the party of the environment and the party of the center.

The WG has applied for Marie Dahlin.
