In the first quarter of 2019, e-commerce grew by 12% worldwide, while growth in the Nordic countries reached 25%.
Electronic commerce in Spain has increased by 22%. Further down the list, the United States comes with 14% and Germany with 12%. It slowed in France, where the rate of increase was only 4%, and in the UK, where e-commerce has not risen at all during the quarter.
The mobile phone is the fastest growing form of communication in global e-commerce – the number of mobile phone purchases grew by 34% in the first quarter, while purchases with tablets and computers increased only 2 and 3% respectively.
This trend has been similar in recent quarters. In terms of total electronic purchases, mobile phones and computers were for the first time equal: 46% each, while tablets accounted for the remaining 8%.
E-commerce has increased by 40% for mobile
In the Nordic countries, customers are even more attached to their mobile phones. With this tool, e-commerce for Nordic customers increased by 67% during the quarter and mobile traffic at commercial sites increased by 40%.
For Nordic customers, the mobile phone has gone over the computer for a few quarters and has responded to 50% of purchases, compared to 38% for the computer and the tablet 11.
During the quarter, an average e-commerce customer spent $ 2.97 per visit to a commercial site. Even measured in this way, the Nordic region stands out with an average purchase of $ 3.93 per site visit in the first quarter.
