Victoria Lundqvist, 24, started working as a nurse at the emergency reception at Kungälv Hospital. Even then, she thinks the work situation was stressful – today she is even worse.

Victoria thinks there are so many patients that staff can not help meeting everyone's needs.

She says that many colleagues feel similar and that they have tried to influence the direction, but that nothing has worked. In the department of Victoria, seven staff members have resigned, says the Swedish Federation of Health Care.

"Worse than ever"
Sofia Tholén Dahlman is a representative of the Federation of Health Care. She says that the Kungälv hospital has had a negative spiral.
– It's serious. The situation at Kungälv Hospital is worse than ever. The work environment is mediocre, the staff ends and the reception areas must be closed.
Sofia Tholén Dahlman thinks the hospital has long called for help, especially at Victoria's emergency care reception.

"It's a lack of security for patients and staff, there are beds and things everywhere, patients sleep in the dining rooms and in the hallways, which means stress for everyone, just imagine it would start to burn, she said.
The situation began to be problematic four years ago, she says. Since then, it has deteriorated.
– Now it's really bad. For Sofia Tholén Dahlman, there is a need to improve the working environment, as well as wages and working hours, so that more staff come to the hospital.
"We must repair the work environment"
Magnus Karlsson is director of the hospital Kungälv hospital. He states that the situation at the hospital has been difficult during and after the summer and that patients are placed in the staff rooms as well as in the dining rooms.

For GT, Magnus Karlsson says:
– What's going on is not good. Placing patients in dining rooms and hallways is a matter of staff shortages. We will try to bring in more newly graduated nurses.
He does not see wage increases as a solution to the problem.
