Study: The income of the man is important in romantic relationships

Even in a country as equal as Sweden, the choice of loving partners always seems to follow traditional patterns, at least to some extent. In a recent study, researchers at Stockholm University found that in romantic relationships where the woman has a higher education than the man, the man always earns more than the woman.

"Surprisingly"

The researchers used Statistics Sweden's registry data and studied all Swedish men and women born between 1940 and 1970 and examined the extent to which they were receiving children. The results showed that men with the lowest income were more likely to become childless.

The demographic researcher Margarita Chudnovskaya, who read the study, said surprise results.

"It was amazing how important this man's income was and that he even seemed to play a bigger role than education," said Margarita Chudnovskaya in the morning's study of SVT.
