economy Sweden's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) fell by 0.2% in the third quarter compared to the previous quarter, according to a preliminary estimate by Statistics Sweden (SCB).
This is the first time in five years that the Swedish economy has contracted every quarter.
Compared with the corresponding period of 2017, GDP grew by 1.6%, according to Statistics Sweden.
Household consumption decreased 1.0% from the previous quarter. Public consumption was unchanged. Exports increased by 0.3% and imports by 0.6%.
In the second quarter, GDP grew by 0.5% over the previous quarter and by 2.7% compared to the same period last year.
Statistics are corrected for calendar effects and seasonal variations.
On the technical side, two consecutive quarters of GDP are needed to talk about recession.
