The return of the Copa Libertadores final between Boca Juniors and River Plate will take place outside Argentina next weekend.
This was decided by the South American football federation Conmebol.
River Plate is the attack of a supporter against the bus of the player Boca Juniors before returning to the final of the Copa Libertadores in which is located Argentina. The South American football federation, Conmebol, announced Tuesday that a disciplinary case against River Plate had been opened as a result of the incident. The club had 24 hours to set up a defense, but the decision on the match was taken faster than that.
Conmebol announces that the return match – which would have taken place at the El Platinum El Monumental home theater – will take place on December 8 or 9, next weekend, outside of Argentina. The first home game of the Boca team, La Bombonera, is over 2-2.
"It will be played outside of Argentina as it is not necessary to organize the match in Argentina," said Conmebol's president, Alejandro Dominguez, at the time. ;a press conference.
The return match in what is called the "Superfinal" would have actually taken place last weekend. However, when fighting between stones and boards crashed the Boca Juniors players' bus cartons as they made their way to the stadium, several players were forced to go to the hospital injured, but the match was postponed. Boca Juniors and River Plate are both from Buenos Aires and the rivalry between the clubs is deep.
