Zlatan Ibrahimovic flirts with both Milan and the Galaxy of Los Angeles has not escaped anyone.
In Italy, Milan's reputation is hotter than ever. The reports claim that the parties are already agreeing on a one and a half year contract – while other data indicate that Zlatan and Leonardo's sports director are still negotiating the salary.
Milan would be willing to offer 1.5 million euros (15 million Swedish kronor) to the single Swedish contract for a six-year contract, while the Swedish demands 3 million euros (30 million Swedish kronor ).
Obviously, everything depends on the Los Angeles Galaxy which gives the green light to the Swedes. Zlatan reached an agreement with the club even in 2019 and was favorable to its continuation – but he then imposed requirements on the club.
Zlatan's requirements: stay in the galaxy
Second, the team does not have a head coach, but according to information available in the United States, Sweden wants to become a designated player. Each MLS team can have three designated players not included in the payroll and thus win much better than all other players.
Currently, Ibrahimovic is the fourth-best-paid club and, to become the designated player (PD), the club returns one of his three "PD" – Jonathan or Giovanni dos Santos – or Romain Alessandrini.
Galaxy insider reporters, Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter, believe this issue is absolutely crucial for Zlatan's future in the club.
– He is putting pressure on them right now. "If you're not serious, I'm not going to waste your time, I'd rather go to Milan," says Baxter in the Corner of The Galaxy podcast.
– He's holding the club hostage. He says, "You have to clean up the organization, build a strong team and make me a designated player." If you do, I'll come back. He has more power than anyone in the club, says Gueshman.
"So they have big problems"
When SportExpressen talks with Kevin Baxter, he thinks the solution is to deceive Romain Alessandrini – the Frenchman was already on the road to the Montreal Impact – or to release Giovanni dos Santos.
"I think Zlatan wants two things: to be better paid and to have a chance to win, but for the moment, he is giving Galaxy time to find a solution – to find a new coach and to replace Alessandrini or buy back Gio dos Santos If this does not happen before January, I think Milan's reputation will be serious, he says.
But the answer to Zlatan's future in the United States is likely to occur before January.
The reason is that the MLS transfer window is open for four hours during a December day. On Sunday December 9 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm, the team is allowed to register new players and validate the change.
"It is then that it is possible that there is an agreement with Alessandrini or not – it is the date on which everyone has to worry as it affects the situation." The future of Zlatan, says Kevin Baxter.
We will have many answers this Sunday?
– It's like that. If the Los Angeles Galaxy is not Sunday, they have big problems.
