Yesterday, parts of a cut body were found in the river, in the center of Kalix, and a murder trial began.

Now the police have managed to determine the identity of the deceased.

On Wednesday morning, an individual discovered broken body parts as he walked with his dog along the seashore to Kalix.

Police blocked the scene and a murder trial began.

The identity of the deceased was originally unknown, but at a press conference Thursday afternoon, the police told them that they now knew who he was.

Knocked on the door

"We worked uninterrupted last night and during the night, and we can confirm that we have secured the identity of the person found," said Lars Öberg, deputy chief of police.

Relatives of the man have not yet been informed and the police do not want to go into details about his age.

According to the police, the area will be locked for a long time. On Thursday, the police held a hearing, knocked on the door and conducted a technical review of the site.

"We are looking for land, air and water since yesterday," said Lars Öberg.

Police looking for witnesses

Police are interested in observations made in the area, along the seashore, between Tullar Hill and Kalix Campground.

The comments that have been made since Monday are interesting, says the police.

"We've been good with tips, but we still want more information," said Lars Öberg.

For the moment, the police do not see a link with missing persons previously reported.
