Police were alerted at 6:46 pm as a freight train collided with a passenger car at Hökmora near Norberg in Västmanland on Wednesday night. It is not known if the train has the track.
Police, rescue and ambulance were alerted on the site.
"According to the first information I received, the car would have been stuck under the box," said Katarina Wollfram, head of press communication at Trafikverket.
According to the police, the person in the car is alive.
"The damage situation is serious," said Tommy Lindh, presidential officer at the Västmanland police.
– The car has come a good distance from the junction.
Rail traffic is off
The crossing has a barrier, according to the police. No criminal offense exists at the moment.
Rail traffic between Karbenning and Avesta Krylbo is currently closed. According to Katarina Wollfram, it is mostly freight trains that drive the route. The Swedish Transport Administration will investigate the accident.
"We are now in interrogation with the driver and relief operations are continuing," says Tommy Lindh.
