But the event left deep traces to the inhabitants of Huskvarna.

We first reacted with great consternation. You can not imagine that this is true. It might sound like a pretty safe village, "said Iréne Linddahl, Church Aid coordinator at Södra Vätterbygden.

She is one of those who have already tried to help the homeless.

The trial is now starting to be so positive for all parties.

There are many thoughts and feelings that arise. But I think it's important that we finally understand what's really going on. Neighborhood people need answers to move forward, she says.

It's a tragedy

When Irena Linddahl goes to the park and goes around the beautiful where the homeless person was sleeping, his thoughts go to the two boys.

It's such a tragedy that these guys have been involved in this act. It is terrible that young men have abandoned a man already worn.

Then you wonder: how could the young people fail to hold a position when all is well? And how can we prevent this from happening again?

We are too busy with ourselves and ours. And we are used to the fact that there is violence and unfortunately we do not see that we all really need to help prevent it, "she said.

A question about civil courage

For Church Aid, the incident had consequences.

We did not know anything about what the man had been exposed to. We realized that we had to be more attentive, that we tried to penetrate inside the shell to be able to know it. A positive aspect is that a field secretary now participates in our meetings, giving them direct contact.

Outside the shopping center where the homeless had a habit of sitting, other homeless people have replaced it. But they are constantly thinking about what happened.

From the beginning, they were terrified. They wanted to know what had happened and who had done it, so that they could return to the usual insecurity. This is partly the case, but you are still safer than before, says Ire Linddahl.
