The World Bank has launched a review of the agreement reached through a consortium with the Swedish subsidiary of Bombardier Transportation, reports the Canadian magazine The Globe and Mail, reports TT in several media.
The project involved the installation of signaling systems for trains and was 85% financed by the World Bank. Now Bombardier risks being blacklisted for future projects funded by the international body, TT writes.
According to the Globe and Mail magazine, Bombardier has used an intermediary to "block bribes" of millions of dollars from high ranking figures in Azerbaijan.
In 2017, SVT's assignment revealed that Bombardier, as part of the operation, had sold signaling systems with a voice mail company as an intermediary. The Multiserv mailbox company had links with Russian trading partners and spent more than half a billion Swedish kroner, or 450%, apparently doing nothing for its money.
VLT has written several articles on Bombardier's heritage in 2017.
Bombardier rejects the charges and the World Bank does not want to comment on the ongoing investigation, according to the Canadian magazine Finacial Post.
Bombardier Transportation's headquarters in Sweden is located in Västerås.
