Mazda has covered the all-new Mazda3 in Los Angeles tonight. The ceremony was preceded by a major international press show at the Neue House in Hollywood, the day before the opening day of the Los Angeles Auto Show. The Premiere is also the starting point for a new generation of Mazda models, featuring a completely new architecture, new engines and more advanced safety equipment.
Design and interior
The new Mazda3 will be available in two different body styles, both from Mazda's award-winning Kodo design, which is rooted in Japanese aesthetics. The Hatchback Edition features a dynamic sporty design, while the Sedan has a sleek and uncluttered design. Both models have their own characteristics and do not share any exterior body panels.
The interior is dominated by simple horizontal lines where all instruments and controls are centered around the driver. A head-up display with projection directly on the windshield and a 7 "digital master instrument included in the standard equipment of all Mazda 3. Priority was also given to the high quality of the materials and the additional sound insulation, so that the cabin is exclusively and comfortably tested for all passengers.
i-Activsense: active safety
The all-new Mazda3 is equipped with high-quality i-Activsense safety equipment, including a pedestrian identification car, adaptive cruise control and file retention support, becoming the standard all new Mazda3. In addition, new Mazda systems are being launched:
- Cruise and Traffic Assistance (CTS) is an advanced queue resistance of up to 60 km / h. The system maintains speed and distance from the existing car, while placing it in the middle of the track, provided the driver keeps their hands on the steering wheel.
- Driver Monitoring is a new system that tracks the driver's eye movements with the help of an infrared camera, which detects both fatigue and concentration on the road.
- E-call will call an emergency service and notify them of the location where an accident occurred.
Engine Program: Skyactiv-X, Light Hybrid and All Wheel Drive
Skyactiv-X, the new diesel engine with compression ignition, makes its first appearance in the all-new Mazda3. Skyactiv-X will be assisted by a 24V hybrid, called M-Hybrid, that will efficiently generate and store braking energy, while facilitating acceleration from the stationary position. The combination of compression ignition and light hybrid allows fuel consumption reduced by 20 to 30% compared to the current Mazda3's Skyactiv-G gasoline engine. Another news is that Skyactiv-X will also be available with AWD for the new Mazda3.
The Mazda3 comes to Sweden to be launched with the Skyactiv-G gasoline engine (also M-Hybrid). The Skyactiv-X engine will be ready for delivery in the Mazda3 in the second half of 2019.
