Switch's NES and SNES games will no longer be added every month

SNES

SNES games have finally arrived on Nintendo Switch, joining the already existing NES library to create an ever greater treasure trove of retro delights for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. Previously, when we only had NES games to enjoy, new titles were published (almost) religiously on the second Wednesday of each month, but this is about to change.

Nintendo's official website in Japan has published an article on the new SNES gaming service, stating that new titles will appear "irregularly" rather than every month. This new format will also apply to the NES library, so it seems like any new addition for one or the other console can arrive at any time.

As you can imagine, it seems like it will definitely be a global affair and not just limited to Japan. The Australian site Vooks has received a statement from Nintendo in its region, indicating that new games "will be added after the launch, but that these versions will not conform to a regular schedule".

Does this mean that we will only get new games every few months or will we have a lot of surprises every week? Only time will tell.
