Swiss people prefer to pay by credit card rather than cash. This is the conclusion of the comparison portal bonus.ch in its latest study. As a result, 70% of respondents prefer this method of payment. It's considered safer and easier than money, said Wednesday the relevant press release.

Do you want a cashless company?

In the current survey, bonus.ch had interviewed about 1,500 people. More than half of respondents reported using their credit card frequently or very frequently. This result was even more pronounced for men (57.6%) than for women (42.1%).

As the results have also shown, aspects such as security and ease of payment are key to high utilization rates. For example, about 70% of respondents reported using their card for both reasons.

The benefits for the customer are important

It has turned out that the benefits for Swiss customers are also very important for the choice of the provider. Nearly 60% of respondents consider these benefits to be quite important or very important.

In addition, the additional costs associated with credit cards are also a criterion of choice. Overall, respondents were less satisfied here. Only slightly less than 38% rated them as advantageous or very advantageous.

Cash still popular?

Last June, a survey by the Swiss National Bank revealed that about one-third of purchases over 1,000 francs were settled in cash.

"Switzerland is still a cash country," said Bettina Gehring, a payment expert at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW), at the request of 20 minutes. The Swiss would like to have something in their hands.
