The furniture giant Ikea recalls the extension "Glivarp" in white color worldwide. Plates from the glass table could be pulled off the rails and fall, Ikea said Tuesday.
Customers had informed the Swedish giant of the defective construction. Cindy Andersen, Kitchen and Dining Business Manager at Ikea Sweden, said: "Customer safety is a top priority for Ikea, so Ikea has decided to recall the product as a precaution."
Nearly 900 tables sold in Switzerland
Six clients were injured, three of whom had to see a doctor, said an Ikea spokeswoman for the AFP news agency. These are tables sold after January 1, 2017 – approximately 45,560 worldwide. Ikea resumes it without proof of purchase.
Switzerland is also affected by the recall. The product is available in two different sizes. In Switzerland, Ikea has sold 754 of the biggest tables and 138 of the smaller ones.
