Director of Formula 1: the balance of power is "unacceptable"
LONDON.Formel 1 Director Ross Brawn reiterated on Wednesday that the current dynamics in motor racing kingship were absolutely "unacceptable" for him.
Because of the 123 possible podiums over the past two years, only two have not gone to the series world champion, Mercedes, Ferrari or Red Bull.
This year, only Sergio Perez, a Force India driver, finished third in the Azerbaijani Grand Prix on the podium. The previous year, it succeeded Canadian Lance Stroll Williams also ranked third in Baku. "Two podiums out of a total of 123 are unacceptable, especially if there is a growing technical and financial gap," Brawn said. "We have to solve this problem with the FIA and the team because it depends on the future of Formula 1."
According to Brawn, there are different solutions. Now it's all the teams supporting this reform. "Because we can not continue like this," said the 64-year-old Englishman. For next year already, aerodynamic changes have been decided. But a major reform is possible only from 2021.
Since the introduction of V6 turbo-hybrid engines in 2014, only the Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull Formula 1 World Championship races have been won. Lewis Hamilton was the winner of these 100 races. The 33-year-old Englishman has won four of his five titles during this period. Only in 2016, he had beaten his German Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg during the final evaluation.
