After the Glarner derailment: the Prime Minister wants to change the rules of Friday

After the national vice president of Aargau, Andreas Glarner, defamed a teacher because of the regulation of vacations in Zurich schools, the senior vice president of the canton of Zurich addressed the following topic: he wishes the two wild days are drawn first.

Today 's regulations lead to an injustice during the holidays, Patrick Walder, chairman of the Zurich SVP, told the press on Monday. Students from other religions would receive more days off than reformed students. In his opinion, however, different worshipers are complying with the rules of the local festival.

The Zürcher SVP requests that for the religious holidays that take place during the week, the first two days of wilds be designated. In this way, we could also make sure that the holiday really makes sense for the students. It was an integration success that we could demand.

The proposal has not yet been written and submitted. The First Vice President always looks for colleagues in Parliament. However, finding a majority can be difficult given the new majorities.

This is not the first time that the subject is added to the agenda in the Canton of Zurich. However, a similar action of SVP, EDU and EPP in 2010 had no chance.

The Zurich SVP does not wish to comment on the approach and style of the member of the National Council of Aargau, Andreas Glarner. Glarner was excused for literally crawling.

Glarner had exposed on Facebook a Zurich teacher with his name and phone number. She had written a letter to her parents informing her that Muslim students would not have to settle in Jokertag because of Bayram, the end of Ramadan. "Maybe someone wants to tell the teacher what you think about it," he writes.

The teacher will now file a lawsuit against Glarner because she and the school concerned were inundated with appeals from angry people – even though her behavior was correct. The school and the governing board were also threatened, as reported by the "Sonntagszeitung".

The exemption for religious reasons has been authorized in the canton of Zurich for many years and regulated by the Volksschulverordnung. In the past, it was mostly Catholic and Jewish children who were released on certain holidays in reformed Zurich.
