AC Schnitzer optimizes the BMW 8 Series Coupé

For many decades, AC Schnitzer has been one of the most prominent names in BMW tuning. That is why it is not unfortunate that the Aachen company is already starting to perfect the new BMW 8 Series Coupé (G15) soon enough.

The first design study will take place at the Essen Motor Show (from 1 to 9 December 2018). This shows in which direction the trip could go. AC Schnitzer wants to use the show to follow the reactions of customers facing the special coupe Series 8.

Nevertheless, AC Schnitzer is already working on a tuning program covering all areas of vehicles. Let's start with the increased performance: planned for the 850i xDrive 600 hp instead of the standard model 530 hp. In parallel, the torque increases from 100 Newton meters to about 850 Nm. For the 840d xDrive, performance has also been increased, bringing the standard power of 320 hp and 680 Newton meters to 380 hp and 780 Newton. An internal guarantee is always included.

For a better and more direct response from the engine and for sound optimization, AC Schnitzer muffler solutions under development must provide. The visible conclusion is provided by the "Carbon Sport" end panels, each with a diameter of 105 mm, which are installed on the BMW 8 Series for two in right / left combination (four in total).

To lower the center of gravity, AC Schnitzer is working on a set of suspension springs, with a lowering of about 20 to 25 millimeters at the front and 10 to 15 millimeters at the rear axle. In combination with the wheel and tire combinations in sizes 20 and 21 inches, in which light AC3 forged wheels and AC1 alloy wheels are to be used, driving dynamics and cornering are clearly optimized, the team said. society. At the same time, you want to ensure a high residual spring stroke and therefore a good driving comfort.

Aerodynamic components developed for maximum support strength and aerodynamic balance will be largely made of carbon for subsequent production. In this design study, these components are still partially implemented in GRP.

The front of the BMW 8 Series can be transformed in the future with carbon front spoiler elements and a matching front splitter, as well as with carbon side wings and carbon hoods for the Air Breathers. The hood vents – also in carbon – allow better ventilation of the engine compartment.

According to AC Schnitzer, at the rear, the carbon rear wing "Racing" and carbon rear diffuser with or without integrated brake light guarantee a better resistance to the descent. The combination of front and rear trolleys creates carbon side skirts that make the 8er even lower and squat. Some interior aluminum accessories will complement the AC Schnitzer range of the 8 series.
