US researchers have developed a patch to help heart attack patients recover.
Scientists report in Science Advances that the corresponding experiments in rats and pigs have been successful.
The researchers call this the "patch for the broken heart". It is designed to help survivors of a heart attack to close their wounds. The plaster is placed directly on the heart. It releases molecules that stimulate muscle growth and promote regeneration. Before the product is tested on humans, the composition of the patch must be modified. Then it should consist of a degradable substance.
