Arno Del Curto resigns immediately as coach of HC Davos. The club announced Tuesday morning. Del Curto started working for HC Davos in 1996. He has qualified twenty-two times for play-offs with the HCD. This season sees the Davoser badly, they find themselves in the penultimate place in the standings, 12 points from the play-offs. The HCD is experiencing the worst sports crisis since the 1980s. Del Curto has now taken the consequences and resigned. In a statement, the HCD writes: "Del Curto has shaped the traditional club – not only sports, but also as a great personality: demanding and encouraging, but also protective and helpful".
Del Curto became Swiss Champion six times (2002, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2015) with the HCD and won the Spengler Cup five times (2000, 2001, 2004, 2006, 2011). In the Champions Hockey League, he managed in 2015/2016, the thrust in the semifinals. The club's message goes on: "Arno was much more than a successful coach, unique in the passion with which he trained his players, and with a strong and offensive speeding game, he not only inspired the HCD fans, but all fans of ice hockey attractive and spectacular for many years.
Arno Del Curto is not quoted in the press release. Nor does he explain why he is resigning for the moment.
