The retired guide dog Perseus (13 years old) was abducted from his owner. The reason: Labrador is too thick! The mistress Nicole Reiber is outraged by the actions of the blind dog school Allschwil. It defends itself.
Labrador Perseus (age 13) has been used for years as a guide dog. Her dog, Nicole Reiber, has spent her "retirement" in Zurich until now. But a week ago, everything changes abruptly, as reported "20 minutes".
Employees of the Swiss School Guide Dog Foundation will visit Reiber Wednesday of last week. The foundation has about 1000 dogs and accompanies them throughout their lives. But they do not leave Perseus with Reiber, but take him with them. The reason: the retired guide dog is too big! Here's how Reiber describes the incident on Facebook.
"Otherwise he was in good health"
The dog came to his former owner Nicole Reiber four years ago when he retired. But in the next nine months, Perseus would have had to increase by nine kilograms, from 25.5 to 34.5 kilograms, the Allschwil BL guide dog school.
Reiber was asked to put Perseus on the diet. According to their own statements, this has also happened – but not with the desired success. The goal of fixed weight was utopian. "Otherwise, he was in good health, as confirmed by the vet," said Reiber.
Perseus arrives in new homes
Reiber does not come to understand the approach of the canine school. Not only has she been taking care of Perseus for four years, but she also takes long walks with him during her active dog guide period.
There seems to be no way to reunite the dog and the ex-guardian. "He will have a new family or a new owner," says Gèrard Guyer, director of the Swiss School Guide Dog Foundation, at "20 minutes". He was convinced that Perseus would be better now. (Rad)
