Beate Zschäpe must remain behind bars – that is the verdict of the Munich Higher Regional Court after more than five years of trial. The judges noted the particular gravity of the 43-year-old main accused's action in the lawsuit of the right-wing National Socialist Underground (NSU) terrorist.

Zschäpe can not expect probation after 15 years of imprisonment. Under the presidency of Judge Manfred Götzl, the Senate largely followed the request of the federal prosecution

The account of the trio NSU – composed of Uwe Böhnhardt, Uwe Mundlos and Beate Zschäpe – is the subject of ten murders. Nine migrants were executed, a young policewoman also had to die. In addition, the NSU is responsible for 15 robberies and a bell attack in Cologne with more than a dozen people seriously injured. Although Beate Zschäpe is not present at any of the crime scenes, she is now found guilty of complicity.
