Tens of thousands of people have protested against Donald Trump's immigration policy in dozens of US cities. Protesters, including many politicians of the democratic opposition, have turned against the separation of refugee families under the motto "Families are united".
"Shame," shouted many demonstrators in Washington D.C. in front of the White House again and again. Donald Trump did not stay in the capital during the protest. "We are here because children in immigration detention do not have a choice," said Helen LaCroix, attending the protests in Washington.

Children detained longer than before
Trump maintains a "zero tolerance policy" with which US authorities want to restrict illegal immigrants to the southern border with Mexico. Although family divisions have been temporarily closed – but only to hold parents and children together.

Trump denounced "radical left-wing democrats"
There was also a mass rally in Boston, where, among other things, Senator Elizabeth Warren talked about the Democrats. She called for a new job description for the Office of Immigration and Customs (ICE). Their officials have been hit repeatedly by actions against migrants.
Trump spoke to Twitter about the ICE debate early in the afternoon. He praised the commitment of the officials and pledged to keep the agency intact. He accused the "Democrats of the Radical Left" of wanting to abolish all police in addition to the ICE.
Meanwhile, Melania Trump visited two immigration centers in recent days, where families are being held. There, she met illegal immigrants and their children for discussions. She had already criticized family divisions.
