Donald Trump: The US ambassador to Estonia withdraws from frustration

The US ambassador to Estonia, James Melville, resigns – apparently out of frustration with President Donald Trump's policy. Melville announced Friday its intention to withdraw prematurely, said a spokesman for the US State Department on request. The embassy in Tallinn also confirmed the resignation on July 29.

According to the AP News Agency, Ambassador Trump is seriously mistaken in a private post on Facebook. It's not only objectively wrong for a president to say that the EU was founded to exploit the US and "plunder our piggy bank" or that NATO is "as bad" as the North American Free Trade Area Nafta. "It also shows me that it's time for me to leave," Melville writes

Melville is already the third US ambassador to resign for Donald Trump's term. He was a diplomat for 33 years and was based in Berlin, London and Moscow. Since 2015 he is ambassador to Estonia.

He served under five presidents and eleven foreign ministers, Melville wrote on Facebook, according to AP. "I would never have thought that would come to that for me."
