The 1,000 cubic meters of limestone were virtually pulverized at the moment of impact and caused a vast cloud of dust. The houses located near the stone fall were covered with a layer of dust several centimeters thick, as wrote the writer of the Lauterbrunner community, Anton Graf, who confirmed a message from "the Bernese Oberland".

The landslides occurred around eight thirty in the evening. The same evening, a geologist was taken to Mürrenfluh for preliminary clarifications, as Graf pointed out. Three families were evacuated for security reasons and the area was closed.

On Tuesday morning, experts were able to see the crash site in broad daylight. As not to be expected at other rock falls, the families were able to return home on Tuesday afternoon.
