The Belgian airline wants to stay afloat with crewed rental contracts until the summer. Now, Air Belgium receives financial aid.
The joy after the departure did not last long. On June 7, Air Belgium began operations and flew back and forth from Charleroi to Hong Kong aboard the Airbus A340-300. But already on September 21, the airline announced that it would cease operations by the summer from October on.
The management of Air Belgium blamed the Chinese tour operator U Tour for failing to comply with the contractual provisions. He announced that he would operate as a supplier of crewed leases only in the winter. But that does not seem to be enough to keep Air Belgium afloat. Demand has dropped considerably in recent weeks, according to the RTBF public channel.

Only the aircraft registered OO-ABA currently provides the link between British Airways and London-Dubai. OO-ABB, OO-ABD and OO-ABE did not take off last week. And without order, Air Belgium threatens to run out of money.
Air Belgium has therefore turned to the Walloon region. It grants to the airline through its investment fund The Walloon Society of Management and Investments, in short Sogepa, a loan of 4 million euros. The Fund's Board of Directors approved on November 23rd. Two state funds already belong to the shareholders of the airline.
Drivers wanted
In summer, Air Belgium wants to start again. On its website, the airline is looking for pilots. Only on November 22, she said twitterThat the job offer is up to date, which guarantees "a daily sunshine and a blue sky", declares Air Belgium.
