"If the numbers increase as they have lasted, this path will become the most important," said Frontex director Fabrice Leggeri of the German newspaper Welt am Sonntag. In June, Frontex counted about 6,000 irregular border crossings to Spain. About half of these people are Moroccans, the others come from West Africa.

The fact that the road to Libya is more difficult to use has also spread among migrants and smugglers, according to Leggeri. In the transit country Niger, people were offered for several months, instead of using Libya via Morocco to travel to Europe

On the road between Morocco and Spain but tried to push drugs to big with their help. Nearly half of Frontex's drug trafficking at the EU's external borders was carried out in Morocco and Spain – about 65 tons.

Leggeri argued for international accommodation plans in Africa so no one could assume he would be brought to Europe after his rescue. "If this automatism does not exist anymore, we can successfully fight the criminal economic model."

The European Union had agreed at the summit last week, under the impact of the German government crisis, to tighten their asylum policy. In the future, rescued boat refugees will be accommodated in central warehouses for collection in the EU. Similar bearings in North Africa are being tested.
