Wengeler succeeds Peter Triner, who grew up in Schwyz. Triner worked as a manager for Bernina Switzerland, the underwear maker Triumph and the luxury goods manufacturer Hanro. According to the announcement, he will work with Wengeler until the official handover at the end of the year. Triner is quoted in the statement as stating that after the successful launch, the mall has tremendous potential.

The Mall of Switzerland started with a rather modest public credit, as shopping centers are an obsolete model at a time of growth in online commerce. The reorganization of the management apparently aims to make the shopping center more attractive to traders. Improving structures and processes would create added value for tenants in particular, according to the Mall of Switzerland announcement.

The idea of creating a shopping center on a land reserve of the manufacturer of elevators Schindler had already been mentioned in 2001. Finally, the sovereign fund of Abu Dhabi, which invested 450 million francs by the intermediary of a subsidiary, has become an investor.
